About The Speaker(s)
Joseph Roche, BPT, Dip. Rehab. PT, PhD
Dr. Roche is an Associate Professor in the Physical Therapy Program at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. Dr. Roche received a BPT Degree from Christian Medical College, Vellore, India, in 1998, after which, he went on to receive a post-professional Diploma in Rehabilitation from the All India Institute of PMR, Mumbai. After working as a PT Clinician and Instructor in India for several years, Dr. Roche enrolled in a rigorous PhD Program in Rehabilitation Science at the University of Maryland, Baltimore, USA. After receiving his PhD in 2008, Dr. Roche went on to complete six years of post-doctoral training in Muscle Biology. Through competitive worldwide application processes, Dr. Roche secured visiting scholar awards to receive training in regenerative muscle biology at the prestigious Harvard and Stanford Universities in the US. Dr. Roche's research in Regenerative Muscle Biology has been funded by the US National Institutes of Health and the Jain Foundation, Inc. Dr. Roche has published over 25 papers in peer reviewed journals including a primer on COVID-19 pathophysiology and pharmacology that was published in the flagship journal of the Federation of the American Societies for Experimental Biology.
